Summer Sewing Classes

I'm going to be offering some summer sewing classes. If you live in Orange County CA and have ever wanted to learn to sew, now is the time. Leave a comment and I'll get back to you. You'd be surprised, if you just learn a few simple things it can really get you started into making all sorts of fun things you really want and need. My mom is going to be offering classes in San Diego County. She is an amazing seamstress with over 30 years of sewing experience. There is more info. on her blog- www.youcansewtoo.blogspot.com. Wonderful Summer Dinner

We made the best dinner the other night, I just had to take a picture before taking a bite! My husband grilled some Orange Roughy that he seasons so well. We served it with fresh mango salsa. I made risotto with a little lemon, roasted carrots with a honey glaze, corn on the cob and watermelon! It was hot outside and felt like summer! It was all super simple but wonderful. I loved it! And wish I could eat like this everyday :-) If you want a recipe just comment and I'll post.

Mother's Day Quilting

As one of my gifts to my mom for Mother's Day, I told her I'd come spend the day with her and do whatever she wanted. Usually when I come to visit, I bring one of my many projects and she helps me finish or get started. So I really wanted to work on one of her projects that she never gets time to work on. She bought this beautiful fabric, Iced Mocha by Moda, and is making the "Don't Fence Me In" quilt pattern. It is so adorable. She wants to use it on her bed (Cal King size) for the summer. We had a fantastic day! We sewed for about 9 hours. My kids were angels (totally surprising) and had a really fun day too, and we were lucky enough to sew, talk, and eat brownies. Couldn't ask for a better day! Here's some pictures of the project in progress. I'll post a picture of the completed quilt once we finish (the next time I'll be down to visit). There's over 900 pieces because the quilt is so large. After this we're starting a quilt together for my grandma for her birthday in October, so I'll have to post about that quilting adventure once we get started.

My First Diaper Cake

These diaper cakes are so cute but so expensive to buy. I just knew I could figure out how to put it together. It was so much fun and I think turned out quite cute!

Red Blanket

I made this for a friends baby shower last week and LOVED how it turned out! It's for a little girl who is going to be sharing a room with her brother, so the mom chose red as the theme for the room. I don't get too many requests for red blankets so this was fun!
